About

From the 1960s through the 1980s, Birmingham, Alabama was a thriving hub of musical creativity. The city buzzed with the energy of musicians, bands, songwriters, recording studios, and live music venues that made it a vibrant music town. Despite this rich history, Birmingham's musical legacy is often overlooked.

This project seeks to shine a spotlight on Birmingham's dynamic music scene, past and present. Through vivid storytelling and detailed exploration, we aim to uncover and celebrate the venues, studios, labels, and unsung heroes who were instrumental in shaping the local music landscape. Our goal is to ensure that Birmingham's rightful place as a significant music town is recognized and remembered.
